MSC Rationalises Far East Europe Services 12/12/2008

11th December 2008.

In a response to the deteriorating trading environment MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will suspend their Tiger Service,  Phoenix Service = 10 ships of 6’500 TEU

The new port rotation for the Phoenix Service will be Qingdao, Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Nansha, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jeddah, Suez Canal, Beirut, Istanbul, Trieste, Gioia Tauro, Suez Canal, Jeddah, Singapore, Qingdao.

Jade Service = 9 ships of 9’500 to 11’500 TEUs

The new port rotation for the Jade Service will be Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Yantai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez Canal, Piraeus, Gioia Tauro (Imports), Valencia, Gioia Tauro (Exports), Suez Canal, Salalah, Singapore, Busan.

Silk Service= 10 ships of 9’500 TEUs

The new port rotation for rotation for the Silk Service will be Xingang, Ninbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Yantai, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Salalah, Suez Canal, Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Suez Canal, Jebel Ali, Singapore, Hong Kong,

Dragon Service = 11 ships of 8’100 TEUs

The new port rotation for the Dragon Service will be Dalian, Xingang, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Salalah, Suez Canal, Gioia Tauro, Naples, La Spezia, Fos, Barcelona, Valencia, Suez Canal, Jeddah, Salalah, Jeebl Ali, Singapore, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Dalian.

Lion Service = 10 ships of 6’500 to 8’100 TEUs

The rotation for the Lion service will remain unchanged, i.e. Busan, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Suez Canal, Sines, Le Havre, Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Suez Canal, Singapore, Chiwan, Busan.

The changes to the port rotation of these services detailed above will allow optimum port coverage from Asia to all the key markets in Europe and the Mediterranean insuring an excellent transit times via new increase feeder set up in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.

This new set up will reduce MSC weekly space availability on the route from the Far East to Europe/Mediterranean by 2’000 TEUs.

withdrawing 9 vessels of 6,500 TEUs capacity with immediate effect and as a result will make the following changes to their remaining service network between the Far East and Europe/Mediterranean:
