As from October 1st 2012, United States of America has a potential risk of labor actions. If this event would take place, MSC expect significant port congestions.
To cover this possible risk, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has filed a Port Congestion Surcharge (CGS) with the effective date as of October 5th for all cargo to/from both coasts of the United States of America and gateways through Canadian ports. The Quantum will be: - USD $ 800 per 20'
- USD $ 1000 per 40' DV
- USD $ 1125 per 40' HC
This charge is filed to cover POTENTIAL risk.
In case there will be no labor actions or in case labor actions will have no effect on port efficiency, this charge will not apply and will become void.
MSC will follow closely the situation.
